We have an immediate opening for a Marketing Associate to join our team here at Monk’s Hill Ventures (“MHV”). This is an opportunity for a self-driven communications and events professional to work with a leading venture capital firm that invests in the best entrepreneurs building the next iconic companies in their industries.
You will work closely with the Partners and the Marketing team to build brand and community engagement in the startup and venture capital ecosystem across our priority markets - Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam - as well as the rest of Southeast Asia. There will be particular focus on promoting awareness and seeking engagement opportunities for the Angsana Council, a non-profit group started by
Peng T. Ong, Founding Partner of Monk’s Hill Ventures. The council members have worked extensively in the government, business, education and community service, and are now committed to the growth and prosperity of Southeast Asia through supporting its smartest and brightest in the entrepreneur ecosystem.
You’ll be building lasting relationships with the council members and startup founders, by establishing a platform for them to connect over deep, strategic and honest conversations on business models, market potential and operative advice.
This role will ideally be based in the Phillippines, and report to our Communications & Marketing Manager based in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities (What your day-to-day will look like):
- Work with Marketing team to develop and drive strategic agenda and content for events, including interaction with internal and external stakeholders, venue research, audio visual requirements and briefing memos.
- Support end-to-end for community and marketing events from planning, content development, time management, resourcing, budgeting, translation, onsite support, and analytics reporting.
- Implement event briefs through research, budget planning, approvals, vendor management, invitation and post-event analysis/debriefs.
- Organize, set up and provide onsite support to events and conferences.
- Develop communication materials such as invitations, speaker biography templates, nametags, menu cards, etc.
- Partner with community stakeholders to help define, support, identify and create content for event marketing opportunities that support the firm and the Angsana Council.
- Manage and keep track of budgets under your purview and ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree at a minimum.
- At least 3-4 years of relevant experience in agency and/or in-house communications and marketing, preferably with large-scale campaigns and events.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
- Adaptable and agile with preconceived ideas left at the door and the confidence to lay down execution plans for never-before-done ideas.
- Actively seeks out processes that drive impact - such as writing multiple versions of a PR pitch to see what sounds best, or updating the metrics spreadsheet for a better campaign decision.
- Proven media relations experience and existing relationships with tech and startup media a plus.
- Strong experience working with G-Suite, Illustrator, PowerPoint and/or Keynote and Photoshop a plus.
